Biography
Born and raised outside Salt Lake City, Utah, this debut release is the culmination of a lengthy career in the arts for Houston Merrill, a former model whose journey from global fashion runways and ad campaigns to Nashville and Los Angeles songwriting rooms is as unconventional as it is inspiring. While Houston Merrill’s sound overall is bona fide country at its core, subtle elements of rock, pop, bluegrass, and even R&B permeate when called for. With his charismatic, distinct personal stamp and vulnerable, heartfelt storytelling, the end result is a high energy, modern country sound with a unique Midwest scruff. Through a life that has seen highs, lows, and everything in between, it is these trials and tribulations that provide the very inspiration for Houston’s deeply personal — and profoundly relatable lyrics.

I don’t know about the second one, but I can damn sure tell you that I’ve been writing this record my whole life.”Houston’s sound eventually caught the attention of Jeff Blue, a multi-faceted, veteran of the music industry with a 3+ decades career that led him first from Zomba Records in the mid 1990’s, to eventually serving as SVP of A&R at Warner Bros. where he played pivotal roles in the careers of numerous marquee artists.
